Jessica and Matthew almost never met, but decided to trust in God and his timing and it paid off. They’ve been together now for nearly three years and are getting married on November 30th, 2019. How did you meet? What was your first date like? Tell us all the details!
We met through Christian Mingle and our first date almost never happened. I had decided to take a dating break. Two days into that break, my now fiancé messaged me. I had a peace about him so I decided to go on 1 more date then take a month off.
Before our date, God had started to give me scriptures about how staying faithful and clinging to Him results in rewards. And after our date I was given scripture about continuing to stay close to God and God blessing me with the desires of me heart (Ps 19:9-11 and Ps 20:4-5).
At the time, Matthew had been dating someone else for a few weeks. He decided that he did not want to repeat his habit of going on 1 date with someone, being with them for 1 year then breaking up. So he went on a date with me before he decided to commit to anyone.
I thought he might turn and run when I told him (on the first date) that I didn’t plan on being sexually intimate until I was married. Matthew says that he was able to see that I am a Godly woman and found that attractive.
We have been dating for almost 3 years and are getting married on November 30th, 2019.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I believe God had been prepping me for Matthew. I knew it was a love that only God could arrange Our foundational beliefs and values are the same, we are both nurses with extremely similar families and upbringings. We just fit, you know? We balance each other perfectly. Neither one of us thought this type of love/relationship existed in reality BUT GOD can do far above what we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20-21).
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
Our personal relationships with Christ is the foundation of who we are as individuals, in our romantic relationship and for our future marriage. Matthew and I have had different experiences through this but we would both agree that having a solid personal relationship with God allowed us to find each other. Trust in God and in His timing. Trust me, it’s worth the wait! We are over the moon excited to marry each other and we have seen the blessings of God sprinkled throughout our relationship.
