Hannah and Josstyn were married October 23, 2018. Christian Mingle is thrilled to have played a part in their love story, and wish them every happiness for the future!
How did you meet? What was your first date like? Give us all the details!
Neither of us thought we would meet our significant other on a dating site. His mom convinced him to try it out for a month and I thought I’d give it a shot just to see what was out there since the usual dating game wasn’t doing me any favors. Finding a significant other who shares the same values as yourself is insanely hard to find in today’s culture.
It just so happened that in the one month that he was trying it out, I also had made an account but I hadn’t purchased a subscription. I had gotten quite a few messages from different guys but I wasn’t too interested in any of them and I want yet sold on the online dating thing. Well, one day I open my phone and see a message from this Josstyn fellow.
My first thought, “Oh my, he’s CUTE”.
My first thought, “Oh my, he’s CUTE”. Second thought, “he’s religious….AND he lives in my town!”. Talk about a triple win. I quickly realized this guy looked like someone I probably shouldn’t “swipe left” on. At this point I had only made an account and hadn’t purchased a subscription. Because of how the Christian Mingle system was set up, if I wanted to see his message to me or respond back, I had to purchase a subscription.
Well, me being my money conscious self, I purchased the 6 month subscription since it was the best “deal”. Basically, I spent $90 to talk to ONE GUY. Well, one thing led to another and I’d say it was money well spent since I married the man 😉 We began talking and found that we knew many of the same people and actually attended the same university….at the same time…..for years. Funny how we never crossed paths until after we had both graduated college and somehow managed to move to the same town get never new of each other. One thing led to another and the rest is history:)
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
I wouldn’t say its the moment I knew it was “true love”, but its definitely the moment I knew he was not like any other man I had met. When we were both in college, we attended regular adoration (separately since we hadn’t met each other yet). Adoration was something very important to us. I had yet to meet more that a few men who actually knew what adoration was, let alone men who regularly attended it.
I had only dreamed I would meet a man like that.
On our first date, he took me to a local restaurant in town. We finished supper, got into his car and I asked him where we were going next. He replied, “I thought we could go sit in adoration for a while.” My heart burst. He was the first man to ever suggest going to adoration, and on a FIRST DATE none the less. I had only dreamed I would meet a man like that. We went to adoration for a while before ending the night playing one on one pool at a pub in town.
Throughout our relationship, I was continuously reminded of his faithfulness to God in everything he did and in the way treated me. When you find someone who you can see the face of Jesus in, that’s how you know you’ve found the “one”. In the words that I told my husband in front of 450 people on our wedding day, “What an amazing feeling it is to know that I married exactly the man I prayed for.”
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
Pray and give your future up to God. Don’t become so consumed with meeting the “one”. When God feels that you are ready, he will make it happen. Have faith and trust.
Live your life to the fullest every day, single or not. In order to be happy with someone else, you first have to find happiness in yourself.
Trust God.
The end.
