Ashley and Will connected on Christian Mingle and met for their week later. Little did Ashley know that this would be the spot that they would share their first kiss, become and couple, and get engaged! Congratulations Ashley and Will!
What can you tell us about the proposal?
“We were engaged this past Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Harrison Fountain at the University of North Alabama (where Will is a nursing professor). The fountain is “our spot” and is where Will asked me to be his girlfriend as well as where we shared our first kiss. They recently rebuilt and restored the fountain, and Will purchased a brick to be used on the grounds that says “Will You Marry Me? Will & Ashley 2021″ and is prominently placed front and center at the main entrance!”
How did you meet? What was your first date like?
“We met on Christian Mingle! We had our first official date one week after knowing each other, although we joke that we had many “Facetime dates” the week leading up to our first date! I drove to Florence, AL where he lives, and we at dinner at City Hardware, perused Third Fridays downtown, and ended the date with a scavenger hunt around Florence that culminated at Harrison fountain where he asked me to be his girlfriend and we shared our first kiss.”
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
“We knew pretty early! For me, it was during one of our conversations about our future. I was diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis in college, so the possibility of fertility issues is a real thing in my life. I always told myself I would tell a guy about it before we “fell too deep” so if it was a deal-breaker, we could part before I got too attached. When I told him, he wasn’t phased. He reminded me that there’s other options to growing our family, and that’s the second I knew that God made him different and had made him for me!”
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members, who are still looking for love?
“Be patient and don’t settle! Not every person is on CM for the right reasons – that’s inevitable. But, be open to having conversations with everyone, and don’t be scared to send the first message! They have to know you’re interested somehow!”
