How did you meet? What was your first date like?
Our first date was on 11/15/2014. Earlier in the evening I was at a end of semester party for a single moms’ ministry I was involved in. At the end of the party we stood in a circle holding hands and the leaders prayed over each of us.
Their prayer for me would be that The Lord would send me a Godly man. One who knew Jesus as his lord and savior. A man who would lead our family. Patrick and I met an hour later.
I could tell he was different, someone rare and special.
We went to a wine bar, even though neither of us drink wine. It was close and open late. They kicked us out at closing. We said our goodbyes and I went home. I had just walked in the door and he texted me saying that IHOP was still open. So I jumped in the car and we met there. We talked and laughed at IHOP til 4 in the morning. I could tell he was different, someone rare and special.
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
We were inseparable for 4 months after our first date. And then I felt him pulling away. We broke up for 6 weeks. God was still working in both our lives and we needed that time apart to heal old wounds.
I had attended a 3 day Christian renewal retreat. The day after I got home I received a text from him saying that he had been praying for me. We hadn’t spoke in over a month. We talked for hours and he explained that he felt like God was telling him we needed a redo.
I knew with God at the center of our relationship our love story was just beginning.
We met for breakfast the next morning at IHOP. I could tell he was changed and he promised he was never going anywhere again. I looked in his eyes and could see a lifetime of love with him. I knew with God at the center of our relationship our love story was just beginning.
What advice would you give other Christian Mingle members?
Put God first and he’ll take care of the rest. Your beliefs are non-negotiable.
