I am an Air Force pilot stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, and Jeremy was a veterinarian working in Clovis, NM. Jeremy and I both turned to Christian Mingle in hopes to find God’s match for us; only God and Christian Mingle could have brought us together, and we are truly blessed to have found one another.
After a few short e-mails, Jeremy and I first chatted online on December 7, 2011. From the first conversation, it was so easy to talk to each other, and our IM conversations quickly turned into exchanging numbers and talking for hours on the phone. Little did I know that it was Jeremy’s last day of his subscription and he was anxious to get my number so we could keep on talking. We instantly connected and talked for hours each night, and then came the hard part…the distance, 274 nautical miles to be exact!
Jeremy and I connected through our love of aviation, and lucky for us, his airplane was the avenue that started our relationship. After countless hours on the phone, and taking a chance on love, it was time to meet. Jeremy picked me up, rose in hand, at the Colorado Springs airport on December 29, 2011 then flew me back to Clovis for the New Year’s holiday.
It was the most romantic 5 days of my life, and before he flew me home, we both knew we were falling for each other. On January 20, 2012, I took Jeremy on a tour of the beautiful Air Force Academy Chapel, and we told each other “I love you” while a cadet played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on the piano. It was a fairytale moment in such an amazing house of God!
After 6 months of long-distance dating, and seeing each other every other weekend, Jeremy found a job and moved to Colorado Springs so we could continue to grow our relationship. On December 7, 2012, for our one-year anniversary, Jeremy and I planned a date to get dressed up and go out. We took a night flight over the city and then got dressed up for our dinner at a famous hotel in the area. Little did I know the surprise Jeremy had in store.
We arrived at the hotel and went to take a picture under “our” tree, beautifully lit up with Christmas lights. When we got there, a woman started playing the cello. Jeremy danced with me under the tree, and the woman started singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” He told me how much I meant to him and how he couldn’t live without me in his life, then he got down on one knee and pulled out my gorgeous ring and asked me to marry him. After my tearful “yes!” we had the most wonderful dinner in a special restaurant at the hotel.
We are now excited to be planning our May 2013 ceremony at the Air Force Academy Chapel and our vintage aviation-themed reception at the FBO where we first met. Thank you Christian Mingle, Jeremy and I would never have found each other without your help and God’s will!
